Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs fell to the Kelowna Rockets on Sunday night in the Spokane Arena by a 2-1 final in their third game in as many nights. Colin Long scored twice for the Rockets, once shorthanded in the first and on the power play in the third, and was named the game's first star.
Long broke up a Spokane pass at the Kelowna blueline and broke in on Dustin Tokarski for the shorthanded goal at 7:36 of the opening period.
The Chiefs tied the game at 15:00 of the second on a Jared Spurgeon goal. Ondrej Roman came from behind the net and into the right circle and found Spurgeon cutting down the slot for his ninth goal of the year.
Kelowna broke a Spokane string of seven straight games of not allowing a power play goal when Long broke the 1-1 tie at 7:18 of the third. The Rockets were 1-3 on the power play.
Spokane will travel twice next week, Wednesday and Friday at Everett and Portland respectively, before playing at home Saturday and Sunday as a part of four games in five nights. The Chiefs will host Edmonton on Saturday, February 14th and Prince George on the 15th.
Tickets to all home games are available by calling the Chiefs ticket office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
