Ottawa Titans News Release
Troy, NY - The Ottawa Titans (16-21) and Tri-City ValleyCats combined to hit nine home runs on Friday, seeing the ValleyCats win the opener 14-6.
Fresh off a come-from-behind walk-off victory a night ago, the Titans got off to a quick start against Elijah Gill (win, 4-2) as Jamey Smart lifted his fourth home run of the season to right. The two-run blast got the Titans off to a 2-0 lead in the early going.
Alec Thomas (loss, 1-2) worked a perfect first but the ValleyCats' bats took over in the second inning. Jakob Goldfarb's first of two homers of the night tied the game with a two-run blast to right.
Next, Cito Culver gave the home side the lead with his first of two solo shots with a big fly to centre. Carson McCusker launched a three-run shot later in the third inning to make it 6-2.
With another homer from Culver in the fourth, Zach Biermann joined in with a two-run and Jakob Goldfarb added his second homer, making it 12-2.
Thomas would exit after five and allow seven runs on seven hits. Brooks Walton surrendered five runs on six hits in one inning of work.
Six of the first 16 hits for the ValleyCats on Friday left the yard as they tallied 12 unanswered runs.
Jason Dicochea and Sicnarf Loopstok each homered in the seventh off of Aaron Ernst to get a trio of runs back.
After adding one in the top of the eighth, the ValleyCats ended the scoring with two more runs in the bottom half against Kenny Williams.
Jason Dicochea posted his third three-hit game of the season, going 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk.
The Ottawa Titans continue their three-game series with the Tri-City ValleyCats tomorrow night at 6:30 pm at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY. For information on season tickets, group outings, and nine-game mini packs, visit the Titans' official website at www.ottawatitans.com.
