Lone Star Brahmas News Release

The Lone Star Brahmas opened their NAHL home schedule on Friday night in front of a packed house at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

At 11:04 of the first the reigning NAHL Easton South Division Player of the Week put the Brahmas up one on the power play. Pat Egan got the play started when he sent the puck to Alexey Solovyev at the point for a bomb that Luke Pickar fought off with the left pad. The rebound found its way onto Sebastian Vidmar's stick. Vidmar delayed and fired it over Pickar's right shoulder. It took just 54 seconds for Hunter Stanley to extend the Brahmas' lead when he buried one from point blank on a drive by. Stanley was assisted by Hayden Hanson and Quinn Carroll.

The period ended with a lot of chippiness that carried over into the middle frame. There were several trips to the box, but no scoring in the second.

Corpus Christi got on the board in the third period on the power play with an Icerays forward in TJ Black's lap. A shot from the far circle by Tanner Lomsnes got over Black. The Icerays pulled even with another power play goal with 3:48 left in the period off a scramble in front. Nic Laburn snuck one past Black's right skate with assists to Lomsnes and Anthony Cortese. The goal sent the game to overtime.

Lone Star was not to be denied on this night. With just 42 seconds gone in the extra period Johan Steen sent Vidmar into the zone with a homerun pass. Vidmar settled the bouncing puck, circled behind the net and wrapped it around the far post for the game winner.

Corpus Christi out shot the Brahmas 21 - 17 and both converted on one power play. Lone Star was 1 - 9 and the Icerays were 1 - 7.
