
Bears Split with Convincing Win over Bismarck

Kenai River Brown Bears News Release
The Kenai River Brown Bears re grouped from a tough loss Friday night with a convincing 5-2 victory over the Bismarck Bobcats in the final game of the annual Rock Star Jersey Auction weekend. The Brown Bears came out hard pressuring and testing Bismarck goaltender Hunter Shepard. After one period the score was tied 1-1 thanks to a goal by Joey Sardina (Andrews, Campbell). The second period the Bears continued to pressure in the offensive end, but still found themselves tied at two. The lone second period Brown Bears goal came from Jack Gessert (Campbell, Andrews) The third period is when the Brown Bears took control. They continued to test Bismarck Goalie Shepard, and finally were able to wear the Bobcats down and net three unanswered goals. goals were scored by: Nick Klishko SHG (Chavez, Berglund), Maurin Bouvet (Klishko, Berglund), Jack Gessert ENG (Rudin, Chavez). Kenai Goalie Josh Creelman picked up 23 saves along with his team leading third win on the year.
The Bears are off this week, but will be holding there Oktoberfest Fundraiser at the Soldotna Regional Sports Center Friday October 17 at 7:00 pm. Tickets may be purchased at the Bears Den.
