Indianapolis Indians News Release

TOLEDO, OHIO - Tony Sanchez and Steve Lombardozzi combined for seven hits and eight runs batted in to help lead the Indianapolis Indians to a 9-3 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens on Saturday evening. The victory is the fourth in a row for the Tribe, who are now a season-high two games over the .500 mark at 9-7. The five runs batted in by Sanchez tied a career-best, and three different Indians batters amassed three or more hits.

Trailing 2-1 entering the third, Sanchez stepped to the plate with the bases loaded. He cleared them with a double to left-center field, erasing the only deficit the Tribe would face in the game. Lombardozzi capped the inning with a single to plate Sanchez, the second of his four hits on the day.

Sanchez would drive home two more runs in the sixth, tying his career high set against Syracuse last season. Alen Hanson also had an excellent day at the plate, as he collected three hits and scored a pair of runs. The Tribe finished the game with six hits with runners in scoring position.

Starter Nick Kingham (1-1) battled the cold conditions to record a quality start and earn the victory over the Mud Hens (7-8). He worked six innings, striking out six while conceding only three runs. Toledo's Mike Belfiore (0-3) worked five frames and allowed six runs (four earned) to pick up the loss.
