Toledo Mud Hens News Release

(Wheeling, WV) Jeff Lerg backstopped Toledo to 2-1 win Saturday night in Wheeling with a 31 save performance. Toledo leads the best of seven series three games to two with game six coming Tuesday night at the Huntington Center.

The Nailers picked up an early power play goal to lead the Walleye 1-0 after the first period of play. Toledo used the power play to tie the game with a goal by Justin Mercier (3) at 12:25 in the second period.

Jeff Lerg picked up the save of the series midway through the third period when he threw out his stick to stop Wheeling forward Shane Bakker. Not long after that save, A.J. Jenks (2) weaved his way into the Wheeling and sent a wrist shot into the top corner of the net at 14:32.

Walleye Notes: Goaltender Jeff Lerg had 31 saves on the 32 shots he faced. For the first time in Toledo Walleye history, the Walleye can close out a series in game six on Tuesday night.
