Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Bombers lost to a tough La Crosse Loggers team 11-7 in series opener at C.O. Brown Stadium.
With three new position players in the lineup, the new-look Bombers struck first on a RBI single to score Dillon Moyer (UC Irvine). In his first game, Moyer went 3-5 with 3 runs scored. Battle Creek continued to swing the bat well against Logger starter Jesse Holiday, as Sikes Orvis began the bottom of the 3rd inning by crushing a double off the top of the wall. The next hitter, Daniel Rockett, then trumped Orvis by hitting the first pitch he saw over the left field fence.
Unfortunately the Logger responded very strongly, scoring single runs in the 3rd and 4th, three runs in the 5th, and four runs in the 6th. Battle Creek continued to fight back throughout, but it was not enough as the Loggers took the game. This win gives them nine consecutive victories.
Game two of the series is tomorrow night at C.O. Brown Stadium. Caleb Vincent will make his 4th start on the hill, as Battle Creek looks to halt the first-place Loggers.
