Trenton, NJ-Adam Loewen drilled a two-out, two-run double in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game and Jonathan Jaspe followed with a two-run single as the Fisher Cats completed their 21st come-from-behind win of the season, 8-6, on Sunday afternoon over the Trenton Thunder.
Trailing 6-4 going to the ninth, and facing Thunder closer Grant Duff (1-4), New Hampshire sent eight to the plate to rally for the win. Darin Mastroianni (2-for-4) singled and Manny Mayorson walked. After Eric Thames grounded into a fielders choice, the Fisher Cats were down to their final out. Shawn Bowman drew a walk before Loewen (2-for-3, 2B, 3 R, 2 RBGI) doubled in Mastroianni and Thames to tie the game at 6-6. Jaspe (3-for-4, 2 RBI) followed with a single, scoring Bowman and Loewen.
Tim Collins worked a perfect ninth, with two strikeouts, to earn his sixth save.
The Fisher Cats (46-30) opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning. Loewen, Jaspe and Jonathan Diaz (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) all had singles with Diaz' hit driving in Loewen for a 1-0 lead.
New Hampshire made it 2-0 in the top of the third inning. Manny Mayorson (2-for-3, 2 2B) doubled and stole third. When the throw to third from catcher Jose Gil went into the field, Mayorson scored on the error.
Trenton (45-29) took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Austin Romine singled, Brandon Laird doubled and Matt Cusick walked to load the bases against reliever Boomer Potts. Jose Gil cleared the bases with a double and then scored on a single by Marcos Vechionacci to make it 4-2.
In the top of the sixth inning, Jaspe (2-for-3) singled and scored on a double by Diaz into the left field corner to trim the lead to 4-3.
New Hampshire tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the eighth inning. Loewen walked, Jaspe bunted him to second and Matt Liuzza (2-for-4) picked up his first RBI as a Fisher Cat with a single to left field.
Trenton moved back in front in the bottom of the eighth inning against winning pitcher Danny Farquhar (1-2). Gil walked and scored on a double by Vechionacci to make it 5-4. Farquar then walked three batters, including Austin Romine for the final run.
With the win, New Hampshire completed the road trip with a 4-2 record, winning series at both Harrisburg and Trenton.
