
Lockout will not affect ECHL season

Wheeling W.V. â The Wheeling Nailers and the ECHL announce that despite the National Hockey League lockout announced on Wednesday, the ECHL's playing season will not be affected and will begin as scheduled on Friday, October 22, 2004.
The NHL lockout impacts only players who are members of the NHL Players Association (NHLPA). Players in both the ECHL and the American Hockey League are members of the Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA) and are not directly impacted by Wednesday's announcement by the NHL.
"While we all hope that the NHL labor situation is resolved as quickly as possible, it is important that ECHL fans know that our teams will be playing and we look forward to providing our 17th season of exciting ECHL action beginning October 22," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna.
The Nailers 2004-2005 season starts on October 22 in Toledo and the home opener will be on October 30 against the Storm, check www.wheelingnailers.com for other game dates.
