Local Product Zach Isler to Make First Professional Start at UC Health Stadium Today

Florence, Ky. - Today marks the first professional start at UC Health Stadium for former Covington Catholic High School and University of Cincinnati standout Zach Isler.

Through two starts this season, the local product has posted the second-best ERA (3.21) among Freedom starting pitchers. Isler's first start with the Freedom was stellar as he snapped Florence's six-game losing streak with a six innings of one-run ball against the Evansville Otters (four hits, three strikeouts) on May 21. That game was the only wire-to-wire victory for the Freedom to date. Isler tossed a complete game in his second start, but the took the loss as the Freedom fell to the Gateway Grizzles.

Isler spent four seasons with the Chicago White Sox organization, reaching as high as AAA Charlotte in 2015, after being drafted in the eighth round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

Collegiately, Isler had his best season in 2012, making 22 appearances and ranking ninth in the Big East in saves (five) during his final season at the University of Cincinnati. He also started the final four series openers for the Bearcats in 2012 and posted a 1.61 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 28 innings, while limiting opponents to a .212 average. On the season, Isler finished with a 2.78 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched, while holding opponents to a .236 batting average. During his time at Covington Catholic, Isler played some playoff games at the ballpark in Florence.

Isler will try to snap another losing streak for his hometown team when the Freedom take on the Traverse City Beach Bums today, Friday, June 3. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
