Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact unveiled on Saturday its list of 12 protected players in preparation for the expansion draft taking place this Tuesday, November 19.
The Impact protected goalkeeper Clément Diop, defenders Victor Cabrera, Daniel Lovitz and Jukka Raitala, as well as midfielders Bojan, Lassi Lappalainen, Orji Okwonkwo, Ignacio Piatti, Samuel Piette, Saphir Taïder, Shamit Shome and Ballou Tabla.
Players who are members of the Generation adidas program who haven't graduated at the end of the 2019 season, as well as homegrown players part of the roster and aged 25 and under, are not part of the process. Those players are Jason Beaulieu, Mathieu Choinière, Clément Bayiha, James Pantemis, Daniel Kinumbe, Karifa Yao and Thomas Meilleur-Giguère.
The following players can be selected during the expansion draft: Zachary Brault-Guillard, Omar Browne, Evan Bush, Rudy Camacho, Jorge Corrales, Rod Fanni, Anthony Jackson-Hamel, Ken Krolicki, Bacary Sagna, Amar Sejdic, Maximiliano Urruti and Jeisson Vargas. Jackson-Hamel will be available, even if he's a homegrown player, because he's aged 25 and over.
Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC, who will both play their inaugural MLS season in 2020, can each pick five players among those who are not protected from other teams, excluding the teams that saw one of their players chosen by Los Angeles FC last year. Those teams are D.C. United, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo and the New York Red Bulls.
Teams can lose only up to one player during the expansion draft.
