Liriano Named Player of Week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - TinCaps OF Rymer Liriano was named the Midwest League Player of the Week on Tuesday. He hit .500 and stole nine bases during the week.

Liriano, 19, went 9-for-18 with two doubles, two triples and a home run, scored six runs and went 9-for-10 on stolen base attempts. He also took five walks compared to just one strikeout.

The Dominican native entered the season as the Padres' No. 18 prospect according to Baseball America.

The TinCaps open a three-game series against the Clinton LumberKings (Class-A Seattle Mariners) Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne RHP Keyvius Sampson (6-1) takes the ball against Clinton RHP Taijuan Walker (2-2).
