Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals, have announced that pitcher Dusty Odenbach has been promoted to Class-A Advanced Wilmington, while pitcher Santiago Garrido has joined the club from the Royals' extended spring training complex in Arizona. Garrido is active for this evening's 6 p.m. game against the Lake County Captains in Ohio. The Cougars begin a six-game road trip this evening and return home next Tuesday to commence a six-game homestand at Elfstrom Stadium.
Odenbach (8th round, 2009) was one of just two southpaws in the Cougars' pitching corps this month, as Jon Keck is the only remaining left-hander available on the current roster. In 14 games this season, Odenbach posted a 2-1 record and 2.30 ERA while leading the bullpen in innings with 27.1 frames worked. Odenbach joins infielder Steven Caseres as the second Cougar to receive a promotion to Wilmington this season, and the first member of Kane County's Opening Day roster to do so.
Garrido (Non-drafted free agent, 2007) begins his fifth professional season after spending 2010 at Idaho Falls (Rookie Advanced). Last summer, Garrido was 2-3 with a 6.06 ERA in 12 appearances (ten of which were starts) for the Chukars.
An updated roster is attached with this release.
