Burlington Bees News Release
MIDLAND, MI (May 31, 2011)-On a night where their offense managed just four hits, the Burlington Bees (37-16) scored a run on a throwing error in the 10th inning to win 1-0 over the Great Lakes Loons (27-25) before 1,407 fans at Dow Diamond on Tuesday night.
Both starting pitchers were sensational on Tuesday. Great Lakes RHP Red Patterson retired the first 11 hitters he faced and did not give up a hit until the fourth inning. The game remained scoreless until the 10th inning. DH Josh Whitaker (1-4) reached base on a one-out single and moved to second base on a single to right field by LF Douglas Landaeta (1-4).
SS Yordy Cabrera (0-4) hit into a fielder's choice. Whitaker moved to third base on the fielder's choice and scored when Great Lakes' 2B Casio Grider threw the ball wide of first base for a 1-0 Burlington lead.
Bowman pitched eight scoreless innings and allowed just four hits in a no decision. RHP Daniel Tenholder (3-0) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win.
