MIDLAND, MI (May 31, 2011)-Burlington Bees RHP Jose Macias has been named "Midwest League Pitcher of the Week" for the week of May 23-29. He made his Burlington debut on May 24 in Beloit following his promotion from the Athletics' extended spring training program in Arizona. He allowed just one hit over six innings in his debut, walking just two men and striking out seven.

Macias made his home debut in game one of a double header against Quad Cities on Monday. He pitched five innings and allowed just one earned run on three hits in a no decision.

The Bees begin a series with the Great Lakes Loons, the Midwest League Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers this evening. RHP Josh Bowman (5-1, 3.19) starts for Burlington while RHP Red Patterson (4-3, 3.35) takes the mound for Great Lakes.
