VANCOUVER, B.C. Monday, February 3rd 2003-- BC Lions General Manager and Head Coach, Wally Buono, today announced Jacques Chapdelaine as Receivers Coach.

"Jacques has done a good job in developing receivers in the CFL," said Buono. "Jacques' knowledge of the passing game and the CFL will be an asset in the development of our passing offence with Steve Buratto"

Chapdelaine's return to Vancouver is a homecoming of sorts. A product of Simon Fraser University, Chapdelaine was named to the All-Northwest team in 1982 in his last year with the Clansmen. A first-round selection of the BC Lions in 1983, Jacques played seven years in the CFL with BC (1983-85), Hamilton (1988), Montreal (1985-1987) and Calgary(1989).

Chapdelaine comes to BC from Calgary where he worked as offensive coordinator in 2002 and as receivers and special teams coach in 2001 with successful receivers Kamau Peterson and Mike Boerigter.

Jacques had his first coaching job at Bishop's University in 1990 where he handled the team's running backs, receivers and quarterbacks.

Chapdelaine saw his first CFL coaching experience as a guest coach in 1991 with the Argonauts and received his first pro coaching job when he was named the Argo's special teams and receivers coach in 1992. He returned to the business world to work in the pharmaceutical industry in Alberta until 1996. In 1996 Jacques went back to Bishop's where he was offensive coordinator and in 1997 Jacques became head coach of Laval University where he compiled a record of 27-13; leading them to the Vanier Cup in 1999. After that successful campaign he moved on to the CFL.

Chapdelaine and his wife Kim have three children, Kaela, Mattew-Grae, and Justin.
