VANCOUVER, B.C. Monday, February 3rd, 2003-- BC Lions General Manager and Head Coach, Wally Buono, today announced the team has hired Bob O'Billovich as Director of Player Personnel.

"The lifeblood of any team is good football players," said Buono. "Bob has done a great job of scouting and recruiting players. He has a proven track record in the CFL and will be an outstanding addition to our football club."

O'Billovich has been involved with the CFL for nearly a quarter of a century serving as an administrator, a scout, an assistant coach and a head coach. O'Billovich also spent time in front of the camera with TSN's CFL live television show.

Bob began his CFL career with the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1974, getting his start as a guest coach and then moving to an assistant position. In 1976 he was named head coach of the Toronto Argonauts and went on to compile a record of 78-55-3, giving him the most wins in team history. Also with the Argos, Bob won coach of the year in 1983, appeared in the Grey Cup three times and led the team to five first place finishes.

Bob was with the BC Lions over a decade ago where he served as the Vice-President of Football Operations and General Manager and added Head Coach to his portfolio halfway through the 1990 season and remained in that position until the end of 1992. In 1993 Bob took on the General Manager duties with the Argonauts, coached for nine games in 1995 and then focused his energy on player recruitment. He has done well in this area also – scouting the talents of Dave Dickenson, Mike "Pinball" Clemons Darren Flutie, Mike Boerigter, Matt Clark, and Mike Trevathan.

O'Billovich was an outstanding athlete at the University of Montana and was voted the school's Athlete of the Decade between the years 1960 and 1970.

Bob and his Wife Judy have three children: Tracy, Jodi and Cody.
