
Lightning Team With ESPN 1380

The Rockford Lightning and ESPN Radio 1380 "The Jock" are teaming up to bring the
2006 22nd annual Continental Basketball Association All-Star game. The game will be
broadcast LIVE to Lightning fans from the Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho on Tuesday,
January 17th.
The Lightning will be well represented this season with four players named to the
Eastern Conference roster. Roger Powell Jr., a 6-foot-6 forward out of the
University of Illinois and Kenyon Gamble, a 6-foot-11 shot blocking center out of
Tuskegee University will be making their first appearances at this seasons
festivities. Marlon Parmer and Ronnie Fields will be joining their teammates for
their second All-Star game appearance each. Parmer was on the Western Conference
team last season that lost to Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo's Eastern All-Stars
114-110. Fields was a member of the 2003 American team that was coached by Daleo.
Ronnie was also a part of the 1997 festivities in which he was crowned the Slam Dunk
Champion.
"The Lightning are excited to be teaming up with ESPN Radio 1380 âThe Jock', the
Stateline sports leader", said Lightning General Manager Michael Neville.
"Basketball fans can listen to what is expected to be a very competitive but fun CBA
All-Star game."
Station Manager Keith Williams says, "We're excited to bring this CBA broadcast and
wish the Lightning representatives good luck. You can count on ESPN 1380 to bring
Rockford and the Stateline area local coverage of your favorite teams."
Eastern Conference selections were announced on Wednesday, January 4, with Western Conference selections following on Thursday the fifth. Head Coaches for this year's game will not be named until Monday, January 9. The Hopkins Financial Slam Dunk competition and the Long Distance Shootout will begin at 7 P.M. (CST) with the All-Star game beginning at 8:15 P.M. (CST). Coverage of the '06 CBA All-Star Game on ESPN Radio 1380 "The Jock" will begin at 8:00 P.M. (CST) on Tuesday, January 17th.
