Gary Steelheads' Randy Holcomb Called Up by Chicago Bulls

Boise, ID (January 5, 2006) - Randy Holcomb of the Gary Steelheads earned his first career NBA call-up today as he signed a 10-day contract with the Chicago Bulls. Holcomb becomes the fifth NBA call-up in the Continental Basketball Association this season.
The 6-foot-8 forward was just named to the CBA Eastern Conference All-Star squad for the 22nd annual CBA All-Star Classic, which will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Boise, Idaho. Holcomb is seventh in the CBA in rebounding (7.8 rpg.) and ninth in the league in scoring (20.2 ppg.) while averaging 3.1 assists. He is shooting 49.0 pct. from the field and 69.8 pct. from the charity stripe.
He had a season-high 32 points (Dec. 6) vs. Yakama and season-high 15 rebounds (Nov. 22) vs. Michigan. The 2002 San Diego State alum has had six double-doubles and reached double digits in scoring in all but one of his 19 games played for the Steelheads this season. He was the last player cut by the Bulls this past pre-season. He was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft (57th overall) and was selected by the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the third round of the 2002 CBA Draft (23rd overall)
The call-up marks the fifth this season for the Continental Basketball Association, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary season. In addition to Holcomb, Idaho's Josh Davis has been called up twice (Dec. 5 by Milwaukee and Dec. 29 by Houston), the Michigan Mayhem's Darrick Martin was called-up on Nov. 16 by Toronto, and Sioux Falls Skyforce rookie Stephen Graham was called up by Houston on Dec. 11.
