Gary Steelheads News Release

GARY, Indiana (January 5, 2006) - The Gary Steelheads' Randy Holcomb received an NBA call-up today. And he'll travel only 30 miles to join his new NBA team!

Holcomb was called up by the Chicago Bulls, the fifth CBA-to-NBA call-up of the season. He was the last player cut by the Bulls in their pre-season camp, and the Bulls have kept a close eye on him since.

The 6-foot-8 forward has had an outstanding season in the CBA, currently ranked 9th in the CBA in scoring (20.s ppg.) and 7th in rebounding (7.8 rpg.). He has a team-high five double-doubles.

"I am very excited for Randy," said Steelheads coach Jaren Jackson from Albany. "Since the start of the season, he has improved his all-around game. For all these players, my whole objective is to put together a system that will allow them to maximize and showcase their talent level. I'm proud of all these players and hopefully this is just the beginning for a few more of the players on the Steelheads roster. I believe that they are all worthy of a shot at the NBA. I wish the very best to Randy Holcomb."

For the Steelheads, this is technically the second pro call-up of the season. The team's Director of Group Sales, Eric Olton, joined the WNBA's Chicago Sky on January 1st as the Director of Game Operations.
