Wizards' Baker and Powell Named to the Western Conference All-Star Team

Bismarck, ND (January 5, 2006) - Maurice "Mo" Baker and Kasib Powell, of the Dakota Wizards, were each named to the Western Conference All-Star Team today. The Idaho Stampede will host the game this season on Tuesday, January 17th at 8:15 pm CST. The game will not be on the radio, however fans will be able to watch it on video live on the Idaho Stampede website. The Wizards will also provide a link to the video on their website.
Mo has averaged 20.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He also leads the league with 8.1 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Baker won the CBA player of the week this season for the week of November 18th - 27th. He has been a valuable leader at the point for the Wizards. Mo has the capability to record a triple double on any given night.
Kasib has averaged 18.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. This will be his second all-star game in two years, as he was a member of the Eastern Conference squad last season. Powell has played everywhere on the floor except center and continued to dominate. When one considers he has performed multiple roles for the team and still put up solid numbers on a consistent basis, it makes his accomplishments all the more impressive.
Both Baker and Powell definitely deserve the honor. They are both multifaceted players who bring veteran experience to the team. "This is obviously a great honor for these two players. They have both played extremely well for us this season. While Mo and Kasib got the honors, we also feel as though we had a couple of other players deserving of this opportunity," head coach Dave Bliss said. Assistant coach Bryant Notree added, "Mo is an easy decision as he is by far, one of the best point guards in the CBA. Kasib is a player who is hard to put your finger on, because he does everything so well. They are both very deserving of this honor."
The Dakota Wizards open up a four game home stand on January 9th against the Albany Patroons. The same two teams will meet again the following night with the Wizards wrapping up their week at home by playing host to the Rockford Lightning on January 12th and 13th.
