
Lightning Recall Trevor Smith from Admirals

TAMPA BAY, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the AHL's Norfolk Admirals, have recalled forward Trevor Smith from the Admirals, Lightning vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Smith, 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, has appeared in all 39 games for the Admirals this season, recording 16 goals and a team-leading 44 points, along with a plus-17 rating. Among all American Hockey League skaters, Smith is tied for tenth in goals, tied for fifth in assists, is fourth in points and is tied for third in plus/minus. A 26-year-old native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Smith has skated in 321 career AHL games with the Admirals, Syracuse Crunch, Springfield Falcons and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He has registered 108 goals and 321 points with 174 penalty minutes.
A sixth-year professional, Smith has played in seven career NHL games, all with the New York Islanders during the 2008-09 season. He has one career NHL goal. The Lightning signed Smith to a one-year deal on July 5, 2011. Before turning pro, Smith played two seasons at the University of New Hampshire. In 78 games between 2005-06 and 2006-07, he recorded 31 goals and 63 points. He went undrafted and originally signed as a free agent with the Islanders on April 7, 2007.
The Admirals begin a three-game road trip on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Albany, N.Y. against the Devils.
The Admirals return to Scope on Tuesday, January 24th, as they drop the puck on a three-game homestand, beginning with a matchup against the Charlotte Checkers in the fifth game of the GEICO Challenge Cup. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. in another Admirals Value Night of the 2011-12 season.
