
Lightning Assigns Five More to Admirals Camp

NORFOLK, VA - The Tampa Bay Lightning assigned five more players to Norfolk Admirals training camp today, it was announced by Admirals General Manager Mike Butters. Forwards Radek Smolenak, Paul Szczechura and Wyatt Smith, defenseman Ty Wishart and goaltender Riku Helenius will all join Admirals training camp on Thursday.
With the additions, the Admirals camp roster now consists of 18 forwards, 13 defensemen and four goaltenders. Returning 2007-08 Admirals include forwards Blair Jones, Bracken Kearns, Chris Lawrence, Justin Keller, Brandon Segal, Smith, Smolenak and Szczechura, and defensemen Daryl Boyle, Justin Fletcher, Kevin Quick, Andy Rogers and Jay Rosehill.
Rounding out the forward ranks will be Luciano Aquino, Matt Auffrey, Mathieu Curadeau, Mitch Fadden, Michael Field, Brady Leavold, Sean D. O'Connor (from Tampa's camp, played last season with ECHL Phoenix), Sean E. O'Connor (played last season in OHL London and Plymouth), Jamie Thompson and Peter Zingoni. Defensemen will also include Jason Beckett, Jamie Heward, Brent Henley, Jay Holladay, Scott Jackson, Chris Kaufman, Jeff May and Wishart. Goaltenders Nick Boucher, Helenius, Craig Kowalski and Mike McKenna complete the roster.
The Admirals will be on the ice from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. today and tomorrow. On Friday, the Admirals will be on the ice from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The Admirals will travel to Philadelphia on Saturday to face the Phantoms in their first preseason exhibition game. The game will take place at the Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia 6:05 p.m. The Admirals then travel to Hershey to face the Bears at the Giant Center on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. before returning to Scope for the second week of camp.
The Admirals will host the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday and Saturday, October 3 and 4, at Scope in two preseason games. The 20th season of Admirals hockey officially kicks off on Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11, at Scope against the Hershey Bears.
