Brooks Joins Wolves Blueline

The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman ALEX BROOKS.

The 32-year-old blueliner collected a professional career-high eight assists and 90 penalty minutes in 70 American Hockey League games with the Peoria Rivermen last season, his seventh as a pro. Overall, the Madison, Wis., native has racked up 416 penalty minutes and 36 points in 355 career AHL games with the Albany River Rats (2002-2006), Lowell Devils (2006-07) and Rivermen (2007-08).

BROOKS made his National Hockey League debut during the 2006-07 season when he appeared in 19 games with the New Jersey Devils, notching one assist and four penalty minutes.

The University of Wisconsin graduate also tallied 41 points and 299 penalty minutes in 159 games, spanning four seasons (1997 to 2001) with the Badgers.

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Wolves will begin their Calder Cup title defense when they launch the franchise's 15th season in Houston on Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. The squad is slated to battle the Peoria Rivermen at the Allstate Arena in the 2008 home opener on Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.
