Hurricanes Trim Training Camp Roster By Seven

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has trimmed its training camp roster by seven players. Forwards Justin McCrae (Spokane - WHL), Samuel Morneau (Val D'or - QMJHL), Robert Slaney (Cape Breton - QMJHL), Chris Terry (Plymouth - OHL) and Brett Theberge (Peterborough - OHL), along with defenseman Michal Jordan (Plymouth - OHL) and goaltender Mike Murphy (Belleville - OHL), will join their respective junior clubs.

The Hurricanes' training camp roster stands at 53 players heading into the team's first NHL preseason game tonight against the Washington Capitals at the RBC Center (7 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network). Carolina will travel to Washington to complete the back-to-back, home-and-home preseason set at the Verizon Center tomorrow (7 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network).

The Carolina Hurricanes open their regular season schedule on Friday, Oct. 10 against the Florida Panthers.
