Lexington Legends News Release
Lexington scored two runs in the eighth inning to defeat Capital City 3 to 1 Friday night. The Legends pitching staff was outstanding. Four Lexington pitchers led by Derick Grigsby, limited the Bombers to one run on two bunt singles.
Grigsby allowed the run in the three innings of work. Mark McLemore tossed four scoreless innings before handing the game over to Devern Hansack. Hansack (4-2) earned the win with a perfect eighth inning. Dan Freeman completed the win and earned his 8th save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning.
Capital City scored the games first run with Derran Watts scoring on a double play ground ball by Aaron Baldiris in the third inning. Lexington evened the game with a run scoring by Justin Humphries. The Legends grabbed the lead with two runs in the eighth inning. Pat Peavey doubled in Osvaldo Fernando. Justin Humphries single scored Peavey.
Lexington will try to make it two in a row Saturday night. Jailen Peguero will square off against Scott Kazmir. First pitch is set for 7:05.
