Lexington Gets First Win of Series against Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Lexington Legends (23-38) defeated the Hagerstown Suns (39- 23) 8-5 on Saturday in the third game of the four game series at Municipal Stadium. The Suns scored runs early, but after the Legends' five run third inning, the Suns trailed the rest of the game.

In the first inning, Victor Robles singled to right field and moved to second on a single by Max Schrock. Grant DeBruin grounded out to third, scoring Robles, and Rhett Wiseman doubled on a throwing error, scoring Schrock.

Telmito Agustin added a run in the second inning to Hagerstown's early lead with a triple scoring Edwin Lora, putting Hagerstown up 3-0.

The Suns lead did not last long. The Legends scored five runs in the third inning to take a two run lead, 5-3. Marten Gasparini singled and reached second on a fielding error, moving Roman Collins to third base. Collins and Gasparini both scored on a double by Samir Duenez.

With one out, Anderson Miller doubled and tied the game, 3-3. Lexington went ahead on a fielding error and stretched their lead on a double by Michael Hill, who got thrown out at third.

After the first scoreless inning, Lexington and Hagerstown both scored one run in the fifth inning. Lexington scored on a double by Hill to left-center field and Hagerstown scored on a solo home run by Agustin to right-center field.

The Legends scored two more runs in the sixth inning, on singles by Gasparini and Duenez, and the Suns scored one more run in the seventh inning on a single by Schrock.

Hill had two doubles for Lexington.

Winning pitcher, Nolan Watson, held Hagerstown to five hits and three earned runs through five innings.

Matt Ditman pitched the ninth inning for Lexington and earned his second save. The series finale at Municipal Stadium is scheduled for Sunday at 2:05 p.m. ET.
