Columbia Fireflies News Release

COLUMBIA, SC - With temperatures and heat indices expected to climb over 100 degrees on Sunday, Bark in the Park at Spirit Communications Park will be postponed until July 5 when the Fireflies host the Charleston RiverDogs (New York Yankees).

All fans attending Sunday's 2:05 p.m. series finale against West Virginia will be permitted to bring one sealed water bottle (not to exceed one liter) and refill at the ballpark's water fountains. The main concession stands behind home plate will also provide free cups of water. Additionally, fans are encouraged to bring empty water containers and bottles.

"Our goal is to make Spirit Communications Park the safest place not only for our loyal fans, but for our canine fans as well," said Fireflies Team President John Katz. "We encourage fans to bring their water bottles, use the water fountains around Spirit Communications Park as often as possible and stay hydrated during Sunday's game."

Splash Day activities are still scheduled for Sunday's game against the West Virginia Power (Pittsburgh Pirates). As an added bonus for Splash Day, the right field section of the Bojangles' Berm has been designated as a cool zone, and Chief Big Fly will have the Fireflies Firetruck spraying cool water onto the crowd between innings.

Fireflies players and coaches will also be signing autographs after the game.

Columbia is in action tonight against West Virginia with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Visit FirefliesTickets.com or call (803) 726-HITS to purchase your tickets.
