York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa.) - Jason Repko homered in the third inning as the York Revolution bested the New Britain Bees 3-1 on Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park. It was the Revs' (12-7) fifth straight win at home and opened up a six-game homestand.
Kelvin De La Cruz (3-1) picked up another win with five three-hit shutout innings, walking three and striking out two. Cole Johnson (2-2) took the loss for the Bees (7-11) after allowing three runs on six hits in six innings.
Mike DeMark locked down his Atlantic League-leading seventh save by striking out the side in the ninth.
Michael Rockett brought the fireworks with his glove in the top of the second inning. With one out, Jonathan Roof laced a tricky fly ball toward the Arch Nemesis. Just inches from the wall, Rockett leaped and came down with the ball, avoiding head-first contact with the Nemesis and coming away with the web gem.
Josh Wilson singled to lead off the bottom of the third inning, then after a strikeout Jason Repko smashed a majestic home run over the Arch Nemesis to make it 2-0. It was Repko's third home run in his last four games, including a pair of leadoff home runs over the weekend in Southern Maryland.
After the first two men got aboard in the bottom of the fifth, Repko hit a sharp groundball to third and narrowly beat out the throw to first on a would-be triple play. Isaias Tejeda rewarded Repko's hustle by banging a double off the wall in left center, bringing home the run to boost the lead to 3-0.
New Britain got a run back in the sixth on a solo home run by Jon Griffin and put runners on second and third with nobody out. Beau Vaughan would not let another run cross, however, forcing Anthony Hewitt to foul out and striking out Steve Carrillo and Jon Jones back-to-back to get out of the jam.
Repko got his turn to flash the leather in the seventh with a diving catch in right field to rob Greg Golson of extra bases.
Ty'Relle Harris shuffled the Revs through a scoreless seventh and eighth before passing the baton to DeMark for the clincher.
Repko led the offense with the home run, two RBIs, and two runs. Bryan Pounds and Wilson each had two hits.
Griffin and James Skelton paced the New Britain attack with a pair of hits each.
Notes: At two hours and 17 minutes, the Revs played their quickest nine-inning game since beating Bridgeport 2-1 in 2:09 last Sept. 5. With a single in the fourth, Telvin Nash extended his season-opening home hitting streak to nine games. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 6:10 p.m. with Darrell Henry and Will DeBoer on the call.
