New Britain Bees News Release

(York, Penn.) Cole Johnson turned in another quality start for the New Britain Bees, but the offense could not support the right-hander as the Bees dropped the opener of the three-game series on the road vs. the York Revolution 3-1.

PITCHERS OF RECORD- W: Kelvin De La Cruz (3-1) | L: Cole Johnson (2-2) | SV: Mike DeMark (7)

Johnson, who entered the game with a 0.47 ERA, allowed just three runs on six hits in six innings of work. One of those hits, however, was a two-run home run off the bat of former Los Angeles Dodger Jason Repko, which gave the Revolution an early 2-0 lead after three innings. York would score one more off Johnson in the fifth on a two-out RBI double by catcher Isaias Tejada.

While the Bees tallied seven hits and three walks against Revolution pitching, the offense could not manage to manufacture runs to support Johnson. The Bees' lone run on the night came off the bat of first baseman Jon Griffin, who homered for the first time this season off Revolution reliever Beau Vaughn in the sixth after taking over for starter Kelvin De La Cruz.

Game two of the three game series begins tomorrow at 6:30 PM, with New Haven native Josh Zeid getting the ball for the Bees. The Revolution will counter with right-hander Mike McClendon.
