McKillop Named Manager

March 2, 2021 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) - New Britain Bees News Release

(New Britain, Conn.) - The New Britain Bees today announced the hiring of Loomis Chaffee head coach/assistant athletic director Donnie McKillop as the club's Field Manager for the 2021 season, their second in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

"Donnie will certainly be a fan favorite. He brings a great attitude, and an unbridled enthusiasm for the game that rubs off on everyone he is around," said Bees General Manager Brad Smith. "He is the perfect person to lead us and establish the culture we desire here in New Britain." Smith then added "It doesn't hurt to have another Middlebury guy around either."

Donnie is a 2011 graduate of Middlebury where he started all four-years on the baseball and football teams, serving as captain of both programs. He earned All-NESCAC honors as a third baseman in 2009 and 2010. As a two-year captain for Middlebury baseball, he also led the team to a NESCAC playoff berth in 2011 and still holds the record for most doubles in a career.

McKillop, a Windsor resident, joined the prestigious Loomis Chaffee program in 2017 as the assistant athletic director, head varsity baseball coach and assistant football coach. In his three years at Loomis, he has led the Pelicans to two league titles on the baseball field. He had the opportunity to work with the League Player of the Year, Luis Guerrero, in 2017, and the League Pitcher of the Year, Justin Pacheco, in 2018. Under McKillop's leadership the Pelicans are 40-12 and have had 15 All-League players in three seasons of play. Including the graduating class of 2021, McKillop has placed 27 college ballplayers across all levels, including a Major League Draft Pick.

"I'm stoked to be able to get to work with so many athletes with different backgrounds," said McKillop. "As a team, we will get everyone to reach their potential together, while playing a fun brand of baseball that will make the fans proud every time they come to New Britain Stadium."
