Laredo Lemurs News Release
El Paso, TX - The Laredo Lemurs (24-20) make a late push, but it's not enough to overtake the El Paso Dialbos (11-35) in a 7-5 loss, Wednesday night at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texas.
With the Lemurs down 6-1 they came to the plate in the eighth and pushed across four runs to jump back into the game. Palmer Karr Jr. started off the frame with a single, followed by a Garrett Buechele single to put runners at first and second with one out.
Jon Gaston would then earn a walk to load the bases bringing up Harrison Kain. Kain doubled into the right center field gap to bring home Karr and Buechele to make it 6-3 Diablos. Jimmy Mojica would bat next and he would hit a hard liner that short hopped the shortstop Maikol Gonzalez, going through his legs for an error allowing both Gaston and Kain to come home to make it 6-5 Diablos.
The eighth inning for the Lemurs would come to an end with ten batters coming to the plate, with four runs, on four hits. The bottom of the eighth saw the Diablos pick up another run to extend the lead back to two runs. The Lemurs went down quietly in ninth with relief pitcher Marshall Schular earning the save.
Luis Chirinos (3-3) started the game and earned the win for the Diablos, as he threw five complete, giving up a run, on six hits, with two walks, and five strikeouts.
Lemurs starter David Newmann (3-3) took the loss going four and a third, giving up three runs, on six hits, with two walks, two hit batters, and five strikeouts.
The Lemurs will be in El Paso through Friday, July 5th. They will come back to Uni-Trade Stadium for an eleven game home stand that will see the Newark Bears, El Paso Diablos, and St. Paul Saints come to town starting on July 6, 2013.
Single game tickets, season tickets, suite rentals, and group packages are on sale now. For more information, call the Lemurs' office at 956-7LEMURS or visit the Lemurs' official website.
