Birmingham Legion FC News Release

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Birmingham Legion FC have added New England Revolution midfielder Zachary Herivaux and forward Brian Wright on loan. Both players may be recalled by New England from their open-ended loan spells at any time during the season.

"[Head Coach] Tommy [Soehn] and I have worked closely with Brian and Zach and we're excited to bring them in and have them join the group for Saturday and moving forward," said Legion FC President and General Manager Jay Heaps.

Herivaux, 23, is in his fifth professional season after signing with the Revolution as the club's third ever Homegrown Player in 2015. The Boston native owns 10 career MLS appearances, including two starts, as well as eight additional appearances and two goals in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play. Herivaux, who owns four international caps with the Haiti National Team, registered four appearances and scored one goal while on loan with USL side San Antonio FC in 2017.

"Jay brought me in and I trained with the Revs academy since I was 16," explained Herivaux. "He gave me my first contract [with the first team]. I'm also very comfortable with [Assistant Coach] Khano Smith because I've known him since I was a kid. He's very good friends with my dad and I've known him a long time so that makes coming down here easy."

Wright, 23, is in his third professional season after being selected by New England with the 20th-overall pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. The Ajax, Ontario native has made 12 appearances in MLS play with one goal scored. In U.S. Open Cup competition, Wright has added one goal in four games for the Revs. In 2017, he made three appearances with two starts in USL play while on loan with Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

The forward joined New England following his standout career at the University of Vermont, where we scored 39 goals and added 25 assists in 80 career games while being named the America East Conference Rookie of the Year, a three-time America East first team selection, a second team All-American, and a Hermann Trophy finalist.

"Because we already know Jay, Tommy, Femi and those guys, it's definitely an easier transition," said Wright. "I've known Jay ever since he drafted me straight out of college. It's more reassuring coming down here knowing how they [Jay and Coach Soehn] run things."

Herivaux and Wright add to the current list of Revolution connections with the club, including Heaps (2001-09, 2012-17), Head Coach Tom Soehn (2014-17), Assistant Coach Khano Smith (2005-08, 2010), and players Femi Hollinger-Janzen (2016-18), Daigo Kobayashi (2014-17), and Trevor Spangenberg (2015).

Transaction: On March 14, 2019, midfielder Zachary Herivaux and forward Brian Wright joined Legion FC on an open-ended loan from MLS side New England Revolution, pending league and federation approval.
