The Lexington Legends used two big innings to rout the Rome Braves, 13-1 at Applebee's Park Thursday night. With the win, the Legends moved into sole possession of first place in the South Atlantic League Southern Division. Greenville had been tied with the Legends, but lost to Savannah 7-4

Rome took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a triple by Joel Campusano and a wild pitch, but the Legends erupted for six runs in the bottom of the second. Singles by Federico Hernandez and Brandon Barnes and a walk to Kody Hinze loaded the bases. Ebert Rosario singled in a run, and Ronnie Ramirez drove in another with a sacrifice fly. Jay Austin walked to load the bases again, and Ricardo Bonfante cleared them with a three-run triple to right field to make it 5-1. Albert Cartwright singled in Bonfante for the sixth run of the inning.

The Legends were back for more in the fourth. With one out, Austin singled. Bonfante grounded out, but Russell Dixon walked and Cartwright doubled, scoring Austin. Hernandez singled, driving home Cartwright to make it 8-1. Barnes walked, and Hinze singled to score Dixon and Hernandez. Rosario tripled home two more runs, and scored when shortstop Ryan Barba's relay throw got past third.

Robert Bono (3-1) pitched six innings to get the win. Tim Gustafson (0-1) was the starter and loser for Rome.

The Legends have taken the first three games of the series. The two teams meet again Friday night at 7:05 as the Legends wrap up their home stand before traveling to Augusta and Rome on an eight-game trip.
