Rome Emperors News Release
ROME, GA - The Lexington Legends jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 7-2 victory over Rome at State Mutual Stadium on Friday evening.
Wasting little time the Legends offense scored three runs in the 1st inning and three more in the 2nd to go up 6-0 against Rome before many fans had settled into their seats for the night. Lexington used five hits and three walks to fuel their attack against Rome starter RHP Trey Riley.
The Braves got a run back in the 4th inning on an RBI groundout from Griffin Benson which brought home Henry Quintero. The Legends got their final run in the 7th inning on a solo homer from Freddy Fermin.
Rome got something going in the 9th after Derian Cruz opened the frame with a double to the wall in left. He eventually scored on an RBI single from Jose Bermudez to make it 7-2.
The loss sends the Braves to their sixth consecutive defeat and guarantees Lexington at least a split of the four game series.
