WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends couldn't hold on to an early lead and fell 9-4 in the series finale to the Columbia Fireflies. Lexington's record drops to 35-32 and Columbia's improves to 34-31.

The Fireflies scored their first run of the game in the top of the second inning. Edgardo Fermin and Quinn Brodey drew back-to-back walks, then capitalized on a Legends error. Rigoberto Terrazas sent a chopper to the third baseman, Travis Jones who threw to first, but Nick Pratto couldn't make the catch, allowing Fermin to score. Columbia led 1-0 after the top of the second.

In the bottom of the inning, Seuly Matias led off with a double off the right field wall and advanced to third on a single by MJ Melendez. Dennicher Carrasco then loaded the bases when he was hit by a pitch. Cristian Perez then smacked an RBI single to left field, scoring Matias which was followed up by an RBI single by Ricky Aracena. Leading 2-1, Travis Jones popped up a sacrifice fly to right field, extending the Legends' lead.

Columbia plated another run in the top of the third. Scott Manea reached on a wild pitch then scored on an RBI double to center field by Matt Winaker.

In the bottom of the third inning, Pratto drew a leadoff walk and proceeded to steal second base. He advanced to third on a groundout by Matias and scored on a sacrifice fly by Melendez. The Legends led 4-2 after the third.

The Fireflies would go on to take the lead for good in the fourth. Quinn Brodey lined a single to left field then Giovanny Alfonzo reached on an error by the Legends, putting runners at second and third. Yefri Del Rosario then tossed a wild pitch, allowing Brodey to score and moving Alfonzo up to third. Rigoberto Terrazas then loaded the bases when he was walked. Raphael Gladu lined an RBI single to centerfield, scoring Alfonzo and moving the baserunners and tying the game at four. Blake Tiberi then drew a walk. Jeremy Vasquez grounded out to the first baseman Nick Pratto, allowing Terrazas to score and moving Gladu to third and Tiberi to second. Winaker then hit a two-run single to center field and went on to score on an RBI single by Brodey. Columbia led 8-4 after the fourth.

Columbia scored their final run of the game in the top of the sixth. Winaker was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI single by Brodey, and the Fireflies would go on to hold the 9-4 lead.

Anthony Kay earned the win for Columbia tossing 5.0 innings allowing four runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out nine. Yefri Del Rosario was given the loss, pitching 3.0 innings allowing seven runs (three earned) on four hits while walking four and striking out two.

The Legends now travel to face the Rome Braves in a three-game series beginning tomorrow, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. RHP Nolan Watson (3-6, 6.71 ERA) will be on the mound and the Braves are TBD.
