Idaho Stampede News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Texas Legends (1-1), the NBA Development League's expansion team for 2010-11, earned their first win in franchise history beating the Idaho Stampede at Qwest Arena 108-100. It was also the first victory for new head coach Nancy Lieberman, the first female head coach in American men's pro sports.

"They work hard, they give their best effort," Lieberman said of her team. "There's a great kinship on this team. Our coaches push them to places sometimes they don't want to go. Whatever we do, we do with love and we do with honor and integrity."

Six Legends players had 10 or more points, including 23 off the bench from newcomer Joe Alexander. He added 10 rebounds. Sean Williams had a team-high 11 rebounds to go with his 11 points. Antonio Daniels had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Stampede (0-2) led by as many as 16 before losing the fourth quarter 16-32. Walter Sharpe led the team in scoring with 24 points and seven rebounds. Seth Tarver had 21 points, seven rebounds and Lance Hurdle added 19 off the bench. Luke Jackson, playing in his first game as a Stampeder since the 2008-09 season totaled seven points, seven assists and nine rebounds.

"We fought hard," coach Randy Livingston said. "I told the guys I wanted to get stops, not even worry about offense. We had a four or five minute stretch where we let them get into transition and that gave Texas life. Those things hurt us."
