Legends Run Win Streak to Three with Matinee Win

Frisco, TX (January 30, 2011) - The Texas Legends used a balanced scoring attack to win their third straight game on Sunday afternoon, as they defeated the New Mexico Thunderbirds 111-102 at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.
Up 21-20 in the first quarter, the Legends went on an 8-0 run to push the lead to nine. Texas would maintain that lead throughout the second period and go into the break on top 62-56.
Dominique Johnson scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds in just over six minutes of work in the first half for Texas, while Abdulai Jalloh had a 14-point opening half for New Mexico.
The Legends used a 16-3 run in the third quarter to take an imposing 18-point lead. However, the Thunderbirds outscored Texas 12-5 to finish the quarter and go into the fourth trailing by 11.
New Mexico would get within two points of the lead at 102-100 on a Jamine Peterson tip-in and just over two minutes remaining in the game.
Justin Dentmon would then score the next six points in a row to put the game out of reach for the Thunderbirds.
Dentmon led the Legends with 21 points, while Joe Alexander added 19. Antonio Daniels had the single-game high for assists in the NBA D-League this season with 16.
Marcus Hubbard was the high-scorer for New Mexico with 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds.
Texas improved to 14-13 on the season after the win, while New Mexico fell to 13-15.
After completing a five-game home stand this afternoon, the Legends will now hit the road to New Mexico, where they will take on these same New Mexico Thunderbirds on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Tip-off for Tuesday night is 9:00 p.m., while Wednesday's game will begin at 8:30 p.m.
