Wizards Snap Losing Streak

Bismarck, N.D. - The Dakota Wizards (8-20) ended a four game home losing streak at home by defeating the Sioux Falls Skyforce (3-20) 104-89 Friday night at the Bismarck Civic Center.

The game got off to a slow start with the Skyforce scoring the first two points of the game and the Wizards finally tied the game at two with 8:59 left in the first quarter. Dakota shot just 36% in the opening stanza and Sioux Falls would shoot just 33% but held a 25-23 lead at the end of the first.

The Skyforce extended the lead to eight, their biggest of the game, on a lay-up by Anthony Harris with 9:11 left in the second. The Wizards would bounce back late in the quarter by going on a 17-7 run and Anthony Goods scored 12 of his game high 19 points in the quarter to give Dakota a 52-48 lead at the break.

The Skyforce held the lead thru most of the third until Darren Cooper hit a jump shot to give Dakota the lead for good at 64-63 with 4:29 left and Dakota would hold a 73-71 lead at the end of three. Dakota extended the lead to seven in the fourth on a three-pointer by Lawrence Westbrook with 8:05 left in the game. The Skyforce trimmed the lead to four at 82-78 then Westbrook struck again scoring five of the Wizards next six points to give Dakota an 88-78 lead. Westbrook scored 14 of his season high 17 points in the quarter and Dakota never looked back as they would lead by as many as 19 on their way to a 104-89 victory.

Renaldo Major recorded his 2nd double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Mike Hall recorded his sixth double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Anthony Harris led the way for the Skyforce recording his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The same two teams are back in action tomorrow afternoon at the Bismarck Civic Center.
