Texas Legends News Release
SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Texas Legends (12-8) put an end to a six-game win streak for the Santa Cruz Warriors (12-9) with a 119-106 victory Sunday night on the road.
Jeremy Pargo grabbed the game's first basket for the Warriors, but Brandon Fields answered to tie it up. Devyn Marble ran it back for another attempt at the lead, but Fields answered again. The two teams exchanged leads three times and tied it up once more before the Legends took control near the six-minute mark with another Fields basket. Texas stayed on top through the buzzer and used a last second basket from Jaylen Hoard to make it a double-digit game. Santa Cruz improved from 37% to 58% in the second but Texas was knocking down 57% and 63% from outside. The Legends built up a 19-point difference midway through the quarter, but Santa Cruz responded with a 16-6 run to cut it to single digits in the final minute. Aric Holman gave the Legends another last second boost with a three ball to finish the half up 59-47.
Texas carried a double-digit advantage through the second half, building their largest lead (+24) five minutes into the fourth. Jordan Poole responded to Texas' high with a long step back to begin chipping away but the gap proved too large for the time remaining. Texas finished the night shooting 52% and neared 40% from outside while leading on the boards 44-41. Santa Cruz shot 49% from the field and 35% outside and saw only 13 fouls to Texas' 25.
