Swarm Suffer Setback to Canton

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - Two-way player Kobi Simmons had a season-high 32 points on 14-of-22 shooting but the Greensboro Swarm (4-15), the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, fell, 116-101, to the Canton Charge (13-6) at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex on Monday.

In addition to his 32 points, Simmons finished the night with seven rebounds, six assists and two blocks in 38 minutes. He was particularly effective in the second half, scoring 19 of his points in the final two quarters.

The Swarm's other two-way player, Robert Franks, scored 17 points to go with seven rebounds in 37 minutes. Greensboro also had Joel Berry II (11 points, five assists) and Joe Chealey (10 points, eight assists) score in double figures.

Canton was led by Malik Newman's 21 points, five assists and four rebounds. Levi Randolph added 17 points and five rebounds while JP Macura scored 15 points. Tyler Cook had a double-double off the bench, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

The Charge held a, 29-21, lead after the first quarter and extended the lead (67-44) at halftime. Canton (62 percent) outshot Greensboro (45 percent) in the first half and forced 15 Swarm turnovers. Greensboro held the Charge to 38 percent shooting in the second half but Canton maintained its lead for the victory.

With 2019 closed out, the Swarm head to face the Windy City Bulls (Chicago Bulls affiliate) to open the New Years on Wednesday, January 1, at 6:00 p.m. ET at the Sears Centre.
