Lexington Legends News Release
They won't be home for long, but the Lexington Legends will offer fans some money-saving opportunities and a new game time during a three-game home stand that opens Monday.
The Legends, in their first year as an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, will play the Asheville Tourists, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. Both teams are in contention in the South Atlantic League Southern Division race.
The Legends, who are 13-5 in the month of May, have a record of 22-21 for the season and are three and one-half games behind first-place Charleston in the South Atlantic League Southern Division race. Asheville is 23-18 and trails Charleston by a game and a half. The SAL season is divided into two separate pennant races, and the first half race comes to an end June 16.
The home stand also marks the return of outfielder Bubba Starling to the Legends lineup. The Royals' first-round draft pick in 2011 had been away from the team for about a week for a vision evaluation followed by Lasik surgery in Kansas City.
"The Legends are playing some great ball right now, and here's a chance to take in a couple games and take part in some of our great family and wallet-friendly nights," said Legends General Manager Seth Poteat. "We're very excited about our first mid-week 12:05 game as well on Wednesday."
The schedule:
Monday, May 20: Legends vs. Asheville, 7:05 p.m. All Monday night home games are "Kids Eat Free" nights, sponsored by Members Heritage Federal Credit Union. All kids age 12 and under will receive a voucher good for a free meal and drink.
Tuesday, May 21: Legends vs. Asheville, 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night is 36-cent hot dog night. The price is in recognition of the Ford F-150 being the number one selling vehicle for 36 consecutive years.
Wednesday, May 22: Legends vs. Asheville, 12:05 p.m. New in 2013, the Legends are offering "business day specials" on Wednesdays. Wednesday home games will begin at 12:05 p.m., with the exception of July 3, which will be a 7:05 start with a holiday Ford Fireworks show after the game.
