
Legends hold on to beat Greensboro, 7-5

Kody Hinze's three-run double capped a five-run third inning for Lexington, and the Legends went on to beat the Greensboro Grasshoppers 7-5 Friday night in Greensboro.
Hinze, who leads the South Atlantic League in RBI with 47, hit a line drive down the left field line to clear the bases, giving the Legends a 5-1 lead. Greensboro had taken a 1-0 lead on a first-inning solo homer by Justin Bass.
Andy Simunic, Jake Goebbert, Jiovanni Mier and Jose Altuve each had two hits for the Legends. Simunic's double started the third-inning rally, in which the Legends sent nine men to the plate.
Tanner Bushue (3-2) pitched the first six innings and got the win. Kirk Clark pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his sixth save. Greensboro starter Bryan Evans (4-2) was the losing pitcher.
The series continues with a 7 p.m. game Saturday night in Greensboro.
