
Legends Hold On For 3-2 Victory Despite Late Inning Lakewood Comeback

FIRSTENERGY PARK (Lakewood, NJ) - The Lexington Legends took game two from the Lakewood BlueClaws, 3-1, remain the playoff hunt. The Legends remain in first place in the Southern Division of the South Atlantic League.
In the top of the first inning, MJ Melendez led off with a single to right field. Nick Pratto and Brewer Hicklen then drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Manny Olloque hit a two-run single to centerfield and the Legends were on top 2-0.
The Legends struck again in the top of the fifth inning. Kyle Isbel led off with a bunt single then moved to second base when Melendez drew a walk. Pratto then singled home Isbel and Lexington extended their lead, 3-0.
The BlueClaws plated their first run of their game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Matt Vierling reached second base on a throwing error by the Legends shortstop, Cristian Perez. Vierling then moved to third on a groundout by Madison Stokes. Colby Fitch singled home Vierling and Lakewood was on the board, 3-1.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Vierling blasted a solo home run to left field, but Lakewood fell to Lexington 3-2.
Yefri Del Rosario was awarded the win for the Legends throwing 5.0 shutout innings allowing two runs while walking five and striking out three. Tad Ratliff was given the save pitching the ninth inning allowing just one hit. Spencer Howard was given the loss for the BlueClaws, tossing 4.0 innings allowing two runs on four hits while walking four and striking out seven.
The Legends and BlueClaws meet again tomorrow, August 20 at 7:05 p.m. Lexington will send RHP Charlie Neuweiler (2-2, 4.46 ERA) to face Lakewood's LHP Will Stewart (8-1, 1.96 ERA).
