Legends Fall Despite Johnson's First Double-Double

Frisco, TX (February 22, 2011) - The Texas Legends fell on the second night of back-to-back games, as they were defeated 122-112 at the hands of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday night at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.

The Vipers got off to a hot start and had a 14-point lead less than eight minutes into the game.

In the second quarter, after trailing 34-23, Texas went on a 25-6 run over a six minute span to take their largest lead of the game at eight. Rio Grande Valley finished the half on a 16-8 sprint and trailed by just two going into the break, 58-56.

The Vipers' Richard Roby (15) and Jeff Adrien (14) combined for 29 points in the opening half, while Sean Williams, Justin Dentmon and Kelvin Lewis each dropped in 13 points in the first half for Texas.

After the Legends took a 75-68 lead midway through the third quarter, the Vipers went on a 21-11 run to finish the period on top by three.

Antonio Daniels nailed a 3-pointer on the opening shot of the fourth to tie the game at 89. With a 97-96 lead, Rio Grande Valley outscored Texas 25-16 down the stretch to complete the victory.

Dominique Johnson earned his first double-double with the Legends, as he led the way for Texas with 24 points and ten rebounds.

Adrein led four 20-point scorers for Rio Grande Valley with 24 points. He also added a game-high 15 rebounds. The Vipers dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Legends 54-30.

While the Legends fell to 17-19 on the year, the Vipers improved to 24-11.

Texas will be back in action Friday night as they take on the Erie BayHawks for the second time this season. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
