Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., July 31, 2007) - Randy Leek went the distance, and the Long Island Ducks defeated the Road Warriors on Tuesday 2-0 in front of a sellout crowd of 6,006 at Citibank Park.
Leek (4-1) turned in arguably the best pitching performance by a Duck this season, earning the win with a complete game, three-hit shutout. The southpaw took a perfect game into the fifth and a no-hitter into the sixth, striking out eight while not walking a single batter. Leek outdueled Carlos Castillo (6-8), who turned in a solid seven and one-third inning, allowing seven hits and two runs - one earned - with seven strikeouts.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning, when the Ducks pushed across the game's first run on Edgardo Alfonzo's RBI double. Carl Everett pitched in with a 2-for-4 night with a double. P.J. Rose had two hits and a run scored, and Jose Offerman collected two singles as well.
The Ducks continue a nine game homestand on Wednesday when they continue a three game series against the Road Warriors.
