
Patriots Top Bluefish

Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 6-2 before 5,714 fans at Commerce Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night.
The Patriots took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Second baseman Teuris Olivares walked and later scored on an RBI single by center fielder Mike Lockwood.
The Bluefish answered with two runs to take the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Shortstop Nick Ortiz and right fielder Bobby Malek reached on singles and scored on a two-run triple by designated hitter Marco Sanchez.
Somerset regained the lead with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Left fielder Bryan Goelz hit a solo homerun (1). Shortstop Patrick Boran reached on an error and moved over on a single by Olivares. Right fielder Jason Romano doubled and both runners scored. Romano then scored on an error to make the score 5-2.
The Patriots made it a 6-2 game with another run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Third baseman Jose Morban singled and scored on a double by Boran.
Somerset starter Keith Ramsey (5-4) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on nine hits and five strikeouts in eight innings pitched. Bridgeport starter Justin Sturge (6-7) suffered the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, on nine hits in six innings pitched.
The Somerset Patriots 10th Anniversary Season presented by Ford will continue at home with an 11:05 am game against the Bridgeport Bluefish on Wednesday afternoon.
