Leason's Four-Point Night Leads Raiders To Win

Prince Albert, SK - Another game, another big night for the WHL's leading scorer Brett Leason.
The Calgary product had two goals and two assists as the Prince Albert Raiders (16-1-0-0) extended their winning streak to nine games with a 7-2 win over the Kootenay ICE (6-8-2-1) on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
Leason was one of three Raiders to register multi-point efforts on the night. Carson Miller had a goal and an assist. Justin Nachbaur also chipped in a pair of assists.
For the sixth consecutive game, the Raiders opened the scoring. Cole Fonstad entered the zone, fed Nachbaur in the slot, who made the extra pass to Miller. The Yorkton product lifted a backhand over ICE goaltender Jesse Makaj at the 10:45 mark of the first period on the power play.
Three minutes later, another pretty passing play led to a power-play goal. Aliaksei Protas found Leason, who made a cross-crease pass to Sean Montgomery. The Raiders overager made no mistake and tapped in the pass to make it 2-0.
In the second, the Raiders extended their lead 2:14 into the period. After Sergei Sapego's shot went wide, Miller centered the puck for Spencer Moe. He went far side on Makaj for his third goal of the year.
The ICE broke through at the 9:22 mark of the second. Nick Bowman pounced on a loose puck in the slot and his quick shot beat Ian Scott.
Less than a minute later, the Raiders restored their three-goal lead. Noah Gregor skated around the offensive zone and picked the corner over Makaj's shoulder with 10:06 to play.
The Raiders made it a four-goal game with their 10th shorthanded goal of the season with 3:28 to play in the second. Leason chased down a puck and centered for a streaking Parker Kelly. The Ottawa Senators signee deked out Makaj and slid home his seventh of the year.
In the third, Leason scored his first of two in the period at the 3:33 mark. He forced a turnover in the Kootenay end and wired a shot past Makaj for his 16th goal of the year.
Five minutes later, the ICE got one back. Cole Muir sped down the left wing and beat Scott shorthanded. It was the first shorthanded goal the Raiders have surrendered all season.
Late in the period, Leason got the goal back. He faked around Makaj, got the side of the net and tucked the puck into the net to round out the scoring.
Scott finished his 13th win of the season with 17 saves. Makaj turned aside 32 Raider shots.
