Tonight... The Blades and Pats meet for the first time this season, game 1 of a 6-game series. It's the third game in as many nights for the visiting Blades while the Pats are coming off a 5-1 loss last night at home to the Edmonton Oil Kings. Saskatoon currently sits 2nd in the Eastern Conference but they'll need a win tonight to fend off Red Deer, Edmonton, and Brandon who all sit one point back. As for the Pats, they'll try to give their home fans just their 2nd win at the Brandt Centre tonight as the 2018 Memorial Cup hosts begin their first chapter in rebuilding their young roster.
Head to head... It's game 1 of 6 on the season between the Blades and Pats. Last season, the Blades went 5-3 against the Pats. The Blades bring in a +5 goal differential on the season compared to the Pats -29. Saskatoon brings a 6-3-1-0 road record into the contest going up against the Pats 1-9-0-0 home record. Kirby Dach's 29 points lead the Blades in scoring while 19-year-old Nick Henry's 20 points lead the way for Regina. The Blades do have an advantage in special teams heading into this one, and they'll also look to take advantage of the Pats penalty kill as Regina has taken the 2nd most minor penalties in the league this season; their penalty kill is also ranked last in the entire WHL.
Who's hot... Kirby Dach leads the Blades with 29pts in 18GP this season tied for 3rd in overall league scoring. Gary Haden has 3G-2A in 5GP since joining the Blades. Chase Wouters has 4A in his last 4 outings. Max Gerlach had 2 goals last night.
