League-Leading Energy Roll Past Wizards 112-102

DES MOINES, IA - The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy got big efforts from Moses Ehambe and Ben Strong as they defeated the Dakota Wizards 112-102 Friday night in Des Moines.

Ehambe, who has been coming off the bench in recent games, reclaimed a spot in the Energy's starting lineup and delivered with 22 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Iowa in scoring. Strong, who also normally plays a reserve role, started at center and scored 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting.

Iowa jumped out to a 23-18 lead early as Strong scored six early points. The Energy maintained their lead heading into the break as they led 57-52 at halftime.

The Energy stormed out of the gates in the 3rd quarter, using an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 65-52. Iowa would increase the lead to 79-58 with 3:34 remaining in the 3rd quarter on a Brandon Ewing free throw.

Dakota chipped into the lead in the 4th quarter, as a Maurice Baker free throw with 1:45 left in the game cut the Energy lead to just five at 100-95. With the game in the balance, Ehambe stepped up for Iowa, drilling a corner 3-pointer and a pull-up jumper on back-to-back possessions to put the game away for the Energy.

Curtis Stinson added 16 pints, 8 assists and 6 assists for Iowa, while Andrew Drevo scored 13 points. The win, coupled with Austin's loss, give Iowa the best record in the D-League at 19-8.

Edwin Ubiles and Justin Johnson each scored 22 points for the Wizards, who fall to 13-14 on the season.

Iowa shot 31 of 39 from the free throw line, while Dakota made 17 of 23 free throws. The Energy also made nine 3-pointers while the Wizards only made three in the game.
